Big Island Wedding Photographer

Photography and film for weddings and elopements across the Island of Hawaiʻi — by a team that lives here.

Home / Big Island Wedding Photographer

The Big Island is the least crowded, most dramatic place in Hawaii to get married. In a single hour you can go from black lava fields to white sand coves to green ranch country under Mauna Kea — and your wedding gallery can hold all of it.

We're not a fly-in team. Blue Haven Hawaii is based on the Big Island — this is where we live, shoot, and watch the sunset on our days off. That matters: we know exactly where the light falls at Mauna Lani in late afternoon, which coves stay calm when the trades pick up, and we're here year-round for rehearsal dinners, next-day sessions, and short-notice elopements.

Where we photograph on the Big Island

Most of our weddings happen along the Kohala Coast — the sunny, calm northwest shore where the island's signature resorts sit side by side:

We also love the island's quieter corners: paniolo country in Waimea, the cliffs of the Hāmākua Coast, and elopements at Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.

Travel included. Always.

Destination couples hate math, so we removed it. Every collection includes travel anywhere on the Big Island — no airfare reimbursement, no hotel nights, no rental car line items. Because we live here, there's nothing to reimburse in the first place: the price you see is the price you pay, any date of the year.

Photo, film, and the week around the wedding

Because destination weddings are really wedding weeks, we offer coverage that stretches beyond the day itself — welcome dinners, snorkel mornings, sunset sails — plus our signature Blue Haven Tapes guest-camera experience, which almost no other Hawaii studio offers.

Big Island wedding photography FAQ

How much does a Big Island wedding photographer cost?

Our collections start at $3,900 for elopements and $6,500 for full wedding-day coverage with a second photographer and a highlight film. Travel anywhere on the Big Island is included in every collection.

Do you charge travel fees?

No — we live on the Big Island. There are no travel fees for any island wedding, any date, ever.

What time of day is best for a Big Island ceremony?

On the Kohala Coast, the golden window is roughly 90 minutes before sunset — the lava fields glow and the trade winds calm down. We'll build a timeline around your venue's exact light.

Do you photograph elopements as well as full weddings?

Yes — elopements are some of our favorite work. We can help with location scouting, permit guidance, and connecting you with officiants and florists we trust on island.
